Disciplinary Process

Make sure your company has clear policies about discipline and termination. You have to clearly communicate to employees in writing and be sure to include them in an employee handbook. For example, sexual harassment, theft, drug possession, absenteeism and so on.

If an employee is simply underperforming, be clear about the company expectations. Make sure your employees know and understand the performance standards they must meet. Employers should use regular, written reviews for employees to do this. Your employees must recognize through our actions as a employer that you offer guidance, education, and support first; and disciplinary action as the final step in the process of improving employees performance.
You have to create a warnings policy process. Make sure all warnings are written and maintained in the employee's file. It is important to let employees clearly know what's expected of them and to put them on notice about the consequences of not meeting those expectations. Ensure the substandard performance history is always well documented.
