Your workstation or office cubicle is your home, your sanctuary in the office. You spend eight hours a day, five days a week in that tiny space of panels and a desk.
Your cubicle is where you do all your work. Therefore, your workstation should be work-friendly. On top of that, it should also be a good reflection of you as an employee and of what your company stands for.
Here is how you can make you cubicle work-friendly:
Get some clues
First, how do you know what office decorations are suitable for, well, an office cubicle? Should you take a peek at your neighboring cubicle? Or better yet, take a peek insider your boss’s office? What kind of decorations do they have?
Personalize it
Put up decorations that represent you. Decorations boost your morale. Especially if you put up testaments to your achievements such as diplomas. You can also put up pictures of people who inspire you to work hard – your family, friends, etc.
Avoid distracting decorations. For instance, avoid putting up pictures of your new girlfriend if it only makes you lapse into daydreaming about her.
Plants
Use small plants to decorate your workspace. They add color and brighten your mood. But first, ask your officemates if they have any allergies to certain plants. If so, do not decorate with plants that your officemates are allergic to. Opt for fake plants if you know you won’t be able to care for real ones.
Exposure
Also consider what kind of people and how many see your cubicle everyday. If you regularly see important clients, be more conservative with your choice of workspace decorations. Remember that your decorations are a reflection of you and your company.
Still and office cubicle
When decorating your office cubicle, whatever you do, do not make it look like your bedroom when you were 16. first and foremost, it is still an office cubicle even though it is your workstation.
No offenses
Keep office diversity in mind. Not everyone has the same tastes, opinions, beliefs, etc. Be careful when putting is signs, quotes or sayings as they might offend some of your officemates. Do not put up anythings sexist, racists or misogynist. Never put up profanities or disparaging jokes.
